The plans will help ease traffic congestion, improve traffic safety and pedestrian safety. 1, in a collaboration between the Road Commission for Oakland County, the Macomb County Department of Roads, the city of Rochester Hills, and the Great Lakes Water Authority, a project expected to span two years will replace and widen the aging Avon Road bridge, add two roundabouts at 23 Mile Road/Avon Road/Dequindre Road and at Avon and Dequindre, add a left-hand turn lane and add pedestrian walkways. According to the Road Commission for Oakland County, Avon Road handles more than 17,000 vehicles per day, with Dequindre north of 23 Mile Road handling about 17,000 daily and the southern Dequindre Road connector taking about 13,000 per day.
